How to Plan Your Wedding Day Timeline

Your wedding day will fly by faster than you can imagine. One of the best things you can do for yourself — and your photographer — is build a timeline that gives you breathing room.

Start by working backwards from your ceremony time. Most couples need about 5-6 hours of getting-ready time, and I always recommend building in a 30-minute buffer for the unexpected. Trust me, something will always take a little longer than planned, and that's perfectly okay.

For portraits, the golden hour before sunset is pure magic. If your ceremony allows it, consider doing a first look earlier in the day so we can take advantage of soft afternoon light for your couple portraits without rushing between the ceremony and reception.

I walk every couple through timeline planning as part of our process together — it's one of my favourite parts of wedding prep because it takes so much stress off your plate.
